This year's marks the third in our series of Graphic Trial Exhibitions, which we began in order to explore the world of graphic art. A collaborative effort undertaken each time by four leading art directors and Toppan's printing director, the series endeavors to discover new possibilities in graphic art produced by offset printing.
The four designers participating in this year's exhibition are Masaaki Hiromura, Hiroaki Nagai, Kaoru Takai, and Mari Yonetsu, whose respective themes were Getting a Grasp on the Origins of Printing through the Sense of Vision; A Traditional Japanese Boxed Lunch with Everything: Beauty, Flavor, and Elegance; What I Wanted to Do with Paper and Ink; and Expanding the Image of Texture. After much experimentation the artists were able to create unique posters that are a union of their own original ideas and diverse printing techniques. Please enjoy the trial posters that were made during the creative process are also on display with their finished posters.
