A Message from the Director

Oct. 1, 2021

Message from the new director inaugurated on October 1, 2021

My name is Shingo Kaneko, the new director of the Printing Museum, Tokyo.

The Museum was opened in October 2000 under a project to celebrate the centennial of the founding of Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (presently Toppan Inc.). Since then, the Museum has been widely dispatching information about the role and significance of printing in the development of society and culture by conducting educational activities mainly at the Printing House as well as by holding a range of exhibitions, including the "the Bibliotheca Apostolica Vaticana" exhibition in 2002 and the "Astronomy and Printing" exhibition in 2018.
Last October, the Museum was renovated. Moreover, based on past survey & research results, the Museum launched the Printing Culture Studies initiative.
Going forward, the Museum will implement specific measures for the establishment of the Printing Culture Studies and enhancement of their content and will continue to play its role as a museum of industrial culture. To this end, I ask for your kind support.
