A Message from the Director

Welcome to the world of books

The summer vacation season is here. Accordingly, the Printing Museum, Tokyo will be holding summer vacation events for the first time in three years. One of these events is the “Exhibition on Books: Learn about paper books more closely and deeply.” Books are something that are easy to take for granted in everyday life, but if we examine them carefully, we can find a great deal of variety among them. This exhibition will focus on the physical form of books and the methods used to create them, rather than their contents. Visitors will be able to see how books are made as well as view unique and unusual examples of them, including the world’s smallest and largest books as certified by Guinness World Records, and more.
The exhibition is specially designed to provide elementary school students with a theme for their summer project, but visitors of all ages are sure to find something new and fascinating. For example, we will also be holding a bookbinding workshop during the exhibition period. So come and have fun exploring the world of books with your own eyes and hands.
Last but not least, we would like to deeply thank those who made this exhibition possible.
