Die schönsten deutschen Bücher 2001
The Most Beautiful German Books Exhibition
Dec. 6, 2002 (Fri) - Feb. 16, 2003 (Sun)
10:00 - 18:00
Each year, the Stiftung Buchkunst selects "the most beautiful German books" newly published. The selection is based on strict criteria applied to diverse essential elements, including the bookmaking concept determined based on the content, the typography arranged to suit the concept, and the graphics, typesetting, printing, paper, and binding of the book. In this exhibition, the Printing Museum presents a selection of beautiful books crafted by the most effective and reliable methods. For a more complete appreciation of the outstanding workmanship and design, visitors will be able to take the books up in their own hands. This year's exhibition, the sixth to be held in Japan, will feature the 49 most beautiful books selected from among 835 entries for the year 2001, as well as the excellent works selected for each of the five previous years.
