Among the attractions of the Printing Museum, Tokyo it is our precious collection of artifacts that stand out. These include the Hyakumanto Dharani, said to be the oldest printed matter in the world, printed material and type, tools and machines from all countries and eras form a collection running to 70,000 items, of which around 300 are on exhibit. Please come and see our historically and culturally valuable material.
Printing House
The Printing House conducts preservation and heritage activities as well as research regarding letterpress printing. There are also initiatives including hands-on printing experiences and conducted tours of the Printing House to diffuse letterpress printing.
What is the Printing House? Printing House eventsThe Museum conducts an array of workshops in which visitors can experience on a regular basis. Creating one's original printed material using machinery and type is an experience hugely popular with both child and adult visitors. In addition to the regular Printing House program, featured events are also held to coincide with temporary exhibitions and Summer Vacation Workshops.
