(prior admittance reservations)

For the time being the Printing Museum, Tokyo will be operating a prior admittance reservations system in order to protect the safety of visitors and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
After Tuesday, August 2, 2022, advance reservations for Printing Museum Exhibition Room (BF1) and P&P Gallery is no longer required. However, advance reservations will continue to be available for the Printing Workshop and Summer Vacation Workshops.
We regret the inconvenience but hope we may rely on your cooperation.
Admittance reservations can be made at the bottom of this page.

Prior admittance reservations

  • All visitors to the following exhibitions and workshops are required to make a prior reservation online (designated date and time ticket).
  • Reservations can be made only from the respective reservation forms. Reservations over the telephone et cetera cannot be accepted.
    (With regard to reservation for the library, please refer to the Guide to Museum Admittance below.)

■Admittance to the Museum after making a reservation

  • When arriving at the Museum please show the entrance staff a mobile screen with the designated date and time ticket or a printout of the screen. Visitors will not be able to enter the Museum without showing either of these.
  • Those with invitation tickets, those aged 70 or over, those with a Certificate for Persons with Disabilities et cetera and all other people eligible for free admittance are requested to show their invitation tickets or other certification.

Guide to museum admittance

  • In the event only that the scheduled number of online reservations is not filled, admission on the day will be possible on a first-come-first-served basis. Admission may not be possible on certain days due to the state of visitors accepted. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
  • Museum opening hours: 10:00 to 18:00
  • The Printing House tours take place on every Tuesday and Wednesday, while the printing experiences are held on from Thursday to Sunday and public holidays.
  • Use of the Library requires a separate prior reservation.

■Important note regarding use of the library

  • Library use will be restricted to three-hour sessions, and numbers limited to two people per session.

■Using the library

Contact the Museum by e-mail or telephone three days before you wish to use the library, and provide the following information.
Please be aware that depending on the situation of library use we may not be able to meet your wishes.

  • Your name
  • Contact details (e-mail address/telephone number)
  • The date and time you wish you to use the library
  • The number of people intending to use the library
  • The material that you wish to look at

Initiatives taken by the Museum

  • Implementation of temperature reading at the Museum entrance
  • Placing of alcohol-based hand sanitizers in all facilities
  • Thoroughness in disinfecting, cleaning and ventilation within the museum
  • Checking of the temperatures and state of health of staff, suppliers and all people related to the Museum
  • Implementation of restrictions on admittance to all facilities in order to prevent the three factors increasing the risk of infection (enclosed spaces, crowds, close contact)
  • Wearing of face masks, faceguards and gloves by staff and installation of panels to prevent droplet infection in the ticket counter, Museum Shop and places where visitors come into contact with staff
  • Securing of spaced seating in the VR Theater et cetera

Please note that in the event that a person infected with COVD-19 is discovered in the Museum this information will be posted on the Museum website. Visitors are requested to make a note of the date that they visit the Museum. Please check the Museum website regularly and in the event that a case of infection is reported contact the consultation point of your home prefecture or city.

Requests to visitors

  • Please do not visit the Museum if you have symptoms such as a fever, cough or are feeling weak.
  • The temperature of visitors will be read upon entry to the Museum. Visitors with a temperature of 37.5 degrees or over will be refused admittance.
  • Please cooperate by washing your hands and applying alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
  • Please ensure you keep a distance of two meters between yourself and others.
  • Please do not touch the exhibits, exhibit cases, equipment or walls.
  • Entrance restrictions may be enforced in each of the facilities.
