Message from the new director inaugurated on April 1, 2025

Printing has given the humanity immeasurable benefits. It has revolutionized the very nature of visual communication and has brought about a transformation in culture and society. Even in the midst of today’s advancing digitization of media and other aspects of our lives, print remains the foundation underlying these developments. The Printing Museum, Tokyo pursues the mission of curating, showcasing and conducting research on the artifacts of printing with a history spanning over a thousand years. The Museum aspires to preserve and pass on this priceless treasure to the future generations. I am humbled, as a mere writer, by the great responsibility to spearhead these endeavors. We invite you to visit our museum and enjoy discovering various exhibitions and programs.
