Four Graphic Artists Attempt to Bring the Art of Printing Up to a New Level
Graphic Trial is an experiment involving four prominent graphic artists who have rigorously explored the relationship between graphic design and the art of printing in an effort to discover new dimensions in artistic expression. The artists Kan Akita, Ryosuke Uehara, Kenjiro Sano, and Katsuhito Yagi participated in this exhibition, our fourth Graphic Trial to date. Using only common offset printing techniques and no special processes, the artists have experimented in conjunction with printing directors again and again in order to broaden the possibilities of graphic design. Their achievements can be seen in this exhibition, which presents both the finished posters -- products of the collaborative efforts of imaginative artists and skilled printing technicians -- as well as tentative designs from various stages of the production process.
