GRAPHIC TRIAL 2010
Apr. 23, 2010 (Fri) - Jul. 19, 2010 (Mon-holiday)
10:00 - 18:00
Graphic Trial exhibitions represent an attempt to discover new forms of expression by probing the relationship between graphic design and the art of printing, with each exhibition a veritable trial in which creators at the forefront of graphic design push the limits of a diversity of printing techniques.
The four creators participating in our fifth Graphic Trial exhibition are Norito Shinmura, Atsuki Kikuchi, Naoko Fukuoka, and Masaharu Nakano. Working together with Toppan's printing directors Yuki Ogawa, Maiko Moriiwa, Takashi Watanabe, and Kazuya Tanaka, the creators have endeavored to discover new forms of expression in graphic art by utilizing only common offset printing techniques, without employing special printing or processing methods. Trial posters representing various stages in the production process are on display along with the finished products born of the collaboration between printing technology and the creators' creativity, giving the viewer new insights into the possibilities in graphic art today.
