A Message from the Director
"Modern Japan Package 2019" has started.
"Modern Japan Package 2019" has started at the renovated and newly reopened P&P Gallery in Printing Museum, Tokyo. This year marks the fifth time that the exhibition will be held and features the results of each contest in collaboration with three related co-sponsoring organizations.
All of the competitions have a long history, and packages have developed greatly during that time. Indeed, you can see a mutual deepening of awareness and evaluation among both the producers, who specifically customize their packages to their products, and the consumers who purchase them.
Above all, has this been because the package has evolved from having a rather simple role in the social and home spaces to one that is more important? We have an acute awareness that we are facing new challenges in which we must develop universal designs that are both usable by all people, and which utilize materials that are friendly to the global environment.
We are delighted to be able to provide a place where all can appreciate these remarkable examples. Please visit Printing Museum, Tokyo. We look forward to seeing you soon.
