Every day of our lives, we witness sundry forms expressed in characters, symbols, and images through print, video, and other media. Some of these forms are direct reflections of the original subject, but others are representations of a process or concept without any structural form. In essence, people everywhere and in all societies through history have sought to give form to things whether they have an original form or not. Humankind has used these expressions of form as tools to communicate.

This exhibition fathoms the nature of form and how various forms have arisen. The forms featured in this exhibit are introduced together with the subjects they are based upon, offering an opportunity to understand the very origins of the representation of form. An awareness of how literature, visual arts, and other key communication media came into being will help us understand how our newer types of visual communication will develop in the future.
