Adding Expression to Reproduction

Mastering Beauty: The World of Inkjet Printing

Mar. 5, 2013 (Tue) - May. 12, 2013 (Sun)
10:00 - 18:00

Inkjet printing is a reproduction method that provides an alternative to lithography and silkscreen printing. It is different from conventional printing, in which a plate is made and pressure is applied.

With inkjet printing, characters or images are formed by using vibration or heat to turn liquid ink into a mist and spraying it through tiny holes in the print head to form characters or graphics on the paper.
It is possible to reproduce stable color tone even with a small number of prints. Therefore, inkjet printing is currently the most widely used technology for reproduction.

With inkjet printing, a wider range of papers with different surface characteristics can be used than with press printing. The diverse range of bright and attractive color expression that is possible gives rise to possibilities as a creative tool for expression by artists.

This exhibition presents the technology, history, and cutting-edge expression of inkjet printing.
