temporary exhibition
World Book Design 2019-20
Dec. 12, 2020 (Sat) - Apr. 18, 2021 (Sun)
10:00 - 18:00
Exhibition of books that won the book design competition, “Best Book Design from all over the World,” and books that won national competitions in Germany, Switzerland, Canada and China.
In this exhibition, we will display a total of around 90 books. Specifically, the books on display were announced as winners of the competition, “Best Book Design from all over the World,” in March 2020, as well as books that won national competitions held in four countries (Germany, Switzerland, Canada and China). For the Best Book Design from all over the World 2020, there were approximately 700 entries from around 30 countries and regions, with the winners including books from Israel, Portugal and other countries, some having fewer opportunities to win past rounds of the competition. Visitors to the exhibition will have a rare opportunity to take a look at books from these countries, which is part of the pleasant experience provided by this event that showcases first-class book designs from around the world and the art of bookmaking.
In past rounds of this exhibition, visitors were able to hold all of the displayed books in their hands; however, this year the number of books that visitors can pick up will be limited in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. Also, visitors will be asked to wear disposable gloves before touching any of the books.
*Not all of the competition winners will be exhibited, as they include books with a limited number of printed copies and scarce availability.
*Please note that the exhibition might be cancelled or postponed to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. Please also kindly understand that admission to the event may be restricted even if the exhibition is held as scheduled.
