An epic poem by Vergilius, the greatest poet of ancient Rome. It is considered to be the best masterpiece of Latin literature. The story depicts the life of a hero named Aeneas who wanders the Aegean Sea that after the destruction of Ilios (a city of Troia) and ends up on the Italian peninsula. It was based on Greek classics, Iliad and Odyssey. Aeneid means the “The story of Aeneas”.
