Printing Workshop Printing House

Type Specimens

work ABC

Twenty-six words that pertain to printing and begin with the letters from A to Z have been brought together in this little book. With the object of improving techniques by creating works, registered members of the Printing House have volunteered to produce this volume entirely by hand, from planning and typesetting to printing and binding.

Capital letters in the writing use wooden type. Compared to letters produced with metal type, they have a different, simplistic feel to them.

The picture on the right-hand page is a collagraph printed from a stereotype made with a paper collage.

We bound this book to make an accordion book by joining printed pieces of paper each the size of a postcard.
